Hi, I have a 2012 118 tsi Golf Hatch. Twice in the last 2 days the Catalytic Converter warning light has come on for a while then gone off. This was also accompanied by an intermittent loss of power. I fear the worse, does anyone have experience with this warning light and its ramifications !

SO the initial diagnosis from the local garage is it : "requires the intake manifold to be removed for inspection and manual cleaning of the valves" they recommend " regular cleaning of the the induction system to reduce carbon build up on the valves and induction ports" .
Does anyone have thi done to their car "regular cleaning of the the induction system........"
Fairly typical for direct injection engines these days.
As far as regular cleaning goes, a can of intake cleaner such as that from Liqui-Moly through the system every service will keep the carbon build-up to a minimum.

Not everyone wants to pay for it, which is why it'd be a case-by-case scenario.

UPDATE....it appears that the problem was "broken earth wire in the turbo boost sensor connection" fixed for $187.
