Car bucks and jerks when cold below 2000 rpm

Thanks mate. Don't know why the clutch would do this. Any ideas as to what part of the clutch or could it be some kind of sensor to do with the clutch? Also seems strange it's just at these rpm's. Idle and above 1600 rpm's and it seems fine, between 1000 and 1400 rpm's it's crap with the clutch pushed in and it takes 4 seconds to come good when I let the clutch out and if I set off and have the car at these rpm's it gives me a 4 second delay before anything happens and my fuel consumption is up. I'm also worried that this stumble will break another intake manifold.

Not too many idea's, ill do some research for you and get back to you. This is a very unusual fault (never seen it on a VW before). Spoken to you before about this and just seems unusual that you've put an aftermarket clutch in and have this fault occur, I am inclined to think it's not the car itself but the actual clutch related change if that makes sense... Do you still have your stock clutch kit?

Stock clutch was slipping so it needed a new one. Might just bite the bullet and get VW to do it. I still have warranty on the clutch that was fit by my local garage until November so might get some money back???? If it is the clutch. Thanks for your help.

Clutch switch will cause driveability problems but not the stumble you mention, it can make the jerk a fair bit between gears. Have only replaced one on a MK5 and was the 1.6, it would jerk a bit, was a real pain to fit.

The only issue shifting is when I'm sat still at some lights. Every so often I'll pull up to stop and be in 1st or 2nd gear with the clutch pressed in, it will be hard to get out of gear and once it's out it won't go into another gear without releasing the clutch and pressing it again. Changing gear when moving there are no issues.

Sounds like hydraulic pressure loss to me.

I was told this too or even air in the system but what's causing is to stumble when I push the clutch and smooth out after 4 seconds when I release the clutch, or is it all related???

I'd say yes, it's all related, and it can be air in the system as easily as anything else.

Hard to get in and out of gear is typical of a dragging clutch (one that doesn't fully release, so that the gears are under pressure and hard to slide apart, plus to engage again the synchro cones have to apply more pressure to overcome the drag from the imperfectly released clutch and stop the spinning primary gears.)

This pressure is provided by you via the gearstick, hence the difficult engagement (which isn't doing your flywheel and gearbox any lasting good, either.)

When you release the clutch you take your foot off the loud pedal — engine is idling with just enough power to keep it ticking over, BUT, the load from the dragging clutch is slowing it down further, hence the stumble, and probably also the delay when it's picking up speed again.

In a previous life I ran a fleet of manual vans on door-to-door work and learned quite a lot about clutches and their foibles.

Sounds spot on to me. Clutch bleed it is and fingers crossed... Thanks everyone.
