I reckon it is simpler and makes more sense to to select "seat belt warning" off than to change country setting with VagCom if thatis all you want to change. Changing country may have other undesired effects. As mentioned three posts up #17.
just need to change your coding via vagcom is very easy need to change the country in dash coding

I know i prob should not be doing this. But i really want to disable the passenger seatbelt alarm. I often do the grocery shopping and put in on the front seat or have my dog ride up front with me and the alarm is constantly going off.
My question is...is there a way to disable the alarm/bell sound without affecting any other services such as airbags ect.
Yeah u can do it but u need vcds and a genuine rosstech cable. I borrowed one off a friend and disabled the seatbelt reminder.

Or just put the selt belt in the buckle, even if you're not securing a person with it!
Sure there is. See this thread for the details of a member nearby who can help you disable the chime. The instructions are in this post (see tweak #3). Easy!

Isn't you dog meant to be restrained in a moving car?
usually, it just uses the buckle to activate a switch..
if you look at the wiring in the seat, closing the circuit should appear as though the belt is on.
VCDS change is a better option as it's reversible.
Alternatively, you could get a spare buckle from a wrecker, and just plug it in...
