I'd consider buying a car interstate. The Brisbane dealers don't seem to discount much with new models..
You should look here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...=36028&page=40 and ask gtimal as he got a fantastic deal in Melbourne. Aim for around 10% of total price including options, remember the more options the more discount in $ terms, but the more you actually spend![]()

i been doing my research before i ordered a car, i found the japanese cars are cheaper in QLD but euro cars more expensive than other states, the stamp duty is higher in QLD compare with VIC, but the shipping cost is cheaper. so, if you are looking at to buy a subaru, i highly rec. to buy in QLD, but euro cars, i am not too sure, i will look at some interstate offers and also try to get price down in local.

barlworld sold lots car every year, they dont mind lose one or two deal, that's why they are in very strong position when neg. with them, but does not mean you can not get a good deal from them, my point is, if they are strong, i will be stronger!
that's the reason i went away from barlworld and get a deal done somewhere else, i could not feel that they want to make a deal with you.

Not neccesarily. The stamp duty in QLD can be found here.
So for a Golf, regardless of the cost, it is 3%. This compares to VIC where it is 2.5% up until $57k, and then 5% on the ENTIRE cost if the purchase price is over 5%. So sure, there is a slight difference if the car is under $57k, but if the car is just over $57k, VIC is basically the most expensive state.
Hi All,
I looked at an excel spreadsheet in one of the threads on this site which allowed you to select the options you wanted on a GTI and it would then spit out the price including onroads. It was initally made for NSW but there were some changes to formulas to work out for other states.
Any help greatly appreciated.
