    If there is one thing you can be assured on it's the delivery date won't be April (is the promise of delivery before you wedding in the contract?) and if they receive 10 cars in the delivery with yours that you will be the last to have his car prepared.

    no idea why u guys would think the dealer would treat the op worse than any other customers. just because they can get more profit from others? if they agree the deal it means they earn the money and it's still an acceptable price. the only difference is they make more or less profit than from other customers. but they have profit anyway and the op is still their customer!

    maybe the dealer wouldn't like to put him on top of the priority list but i don't think he will be the last. if that it's just not professional.

    anyone can pay any reasonable price for both sides, dealer and himself. and someone can pay more to get more 'priority',etc.. but for others maybe it's just waste of the money. so everyone has his/her own choice.

    I'd love to see a copy of the contract showing this price tbh.

    When I sit back and think about the whole situation it just sounds wierd.

    I am very tired now, me and sales person were fighting about the deal, we punched table, and he yelled to me my price pissed him off.
    Can anyone honestly see this happening? lol

    Couple of points:

    While there's nothing wrong with bargaining hard, some people consider it poor form to drive a bargain beyond the point of "good faith".

    When that point is crossed is a matter for judgment and I am sure I have crossed on occasions myself.

    But I never disclose the price offered by another dealer* (they would not want the same done with their quote) but merely make it known I have a good price and ask for the best they can do.

    However, if it were late enough in the negotiation I might disclose my "walkaway" price (which would be fair dinkum) whilst keeping one accessory or option I wanted worth ~$500 or less up my sleeve. If they did not match my price I might say I agree if they include the particular option/accessory.

    I guess if you keep it civil, and the parties are contracting freely from reasonably equal bargaining positions, you can't blame the purchaser if the dealer accepts a low offer.

    with many different types of combinations in options for GTI orders I'm wondering why the ppl who didn't bargain as much think the cheaper drive away prices will somehow have their car delivered later?

    you see that's the beauty of sales wrapped in abit of service. it lets the buyer who pays a premium assume all sorts of wonderfully rosey things.

    It's not that at all.

    The reason people are saying that wdong will get bad service is because he upset/angered the sales person so much that he punched the table and yelled at him!

    It's going to be funny to watch you moan and groan here as your delivery date slips into oblivion. Time and again over the years I've seen a bunch of people like you boast about what a good deal they got, and how hard they worked the dealer, and then the dealer on sells the car to another person for more and re-orders yours again, and on it goes.

    I've also heard many car dealers say that people who play dealers against each other are the worst customers they ever get.

    If the car is just being ordered now you have no chance of getting it in April. Ask your dealer for a VIN and see what happens haha

    Being an Aussie living in Asia, I know all about this asian bargaining culture stuff, but that doesn't mean it's always going to go down well in Australia... Just like there's plenty of cultural traits that I grew up with that don't go down well up here.

    Yeah - this is going to be very important. Get the VIN, so not only do you know when it'll arrive (and can track it), but it ensures that the dealer could not sell the car to a higher paying customer - though I'm sure most dealers are honest enough to not do this
