I've made an enquiry, will let you know what I find out.
Does anybody happen to know if there are ANY 3-door's still around? Am getting told by one Vic dealer than any 3-door is Feb/March and that they got none, but seems I'm seeing references to some being around.
Thanks!

There are certainly no 3dr ones being listed on any of the car (sales) sites that I can see. But not all dealers list on them obviously. Have you tried calling one of those car purchase assistance places like Thew New Car Factory? They'll do all the leg work for you. So if there is any available, they'll find it.
None at my local dealer, and they can't see if there are any available elsewhere...
After a series of hiccups, looks like I should be able to pick up the car later today. Just in time, as I have a road trip to Melbourne for work (with a bit of track day icing on the cake) next week.
Checked the car out last night and a few initial impressions:
Looks brilliant. The whole car looks even better in the flesh than in the photos. 18" wheels really lift it. If you are contemplating an order, try to see the colour(s) under consideration in the flesh. Likewise with the 18's.
Colour is a matter of taste but a candy white GTI with 18's makes the silver GTI on 17s at the dealer look very non-descript from every angle. White really sets off the front and rear.
The twin pipes look the business. i thought they looked a bit lame in some photos.
I think I will be a bit distracted at my meeting straight after lunch...check watch....check watch....check watch...
Car basically looks like Murphs (see 4 days in heaven thread). Will take some photos on the road trip and post them up. If I have any spare time during the track day, I will also try and get some photos there.
According to the poll on this forum, many agree about candy white being the colour of choice. The contrast between the white and the dark accents really makes it pop. Super dark tint and the shadow effect 18's complete the picture from the side.
Unfortunately, I've added some more shadow effect myself in the form of black dirt mixed with rainwater all over the back. Can anyone suggest a couple of good products to leave in the car so I can give her a quick wipe off? I was thinking a couple of soft chamois and a waterless car wash spray product. Or should I use a bottle of water, a soft cloth, then a chamois? I've never really given a crap before, but that's all changed.
I don't want to hijack the thread, but thought car care might be a good angle since you're picking up your beastie this arvo. Good luck!
Not really a 'quick' solution - but DMS_Dan has a great how-to posting on external car detailing which includes recommended products to keep the car looking great...

I'd say it's best to invest some time and money into good quality car detailing products such as a premium paint sealant or wax (not the stuff that you get off the shelf in Kmart or BigW). Not only does it protect the paintwork for up to 6 months at a time, it also makes it easier to clean.
Or give a car detailer a call such as DMS_Dan (EDIT: Just had a blonde moment and realised that you are in Perth, so you'll have to find a local car detailer in Perth) and he can do it for you for a reasonable price!
I've been told to avoid any sort of waterless wash though, as it could damage your paint through scratches etc... Best to actually give it a proper washing...

Nice! I do love the clean lines of the 3-door. Looks like I'll be sitting on my hands until Feb/March before I can get one though![]()
Hey all,
Car went back to the service department last week, telling them what I could remember (should have written it down) Which was:-
*RNS shutting down (shut down on them, updating RNS510 software and maps when DVD comes in)
*Rain sensor playing up (no fault found, spoke to another mechanic there and he said it will be replaced next time as its a common problem)
*rattle in gearbox (no fault found will take em for a ride next time)
*Vanity mirror light (fault found and fixed)
*Rear O/S window not working (fault only happened once but windows were re-set)
Forgot to mention about the bonnet fit and finish but showed them before i left with the car and they said they will have a look when I bring the car in next, if it can't be rectified it will have to go to a body shop he said....
All in all I'm very happy with the service I've been given, no questions asked. Well done Bill Buckle.
Tyre pressure reset switch was in the glove box as was said, thanks for that. I absolutely Love this car so it's good to see decent customer service, looks like I might get that DSG 118tsi in a few years after all, depending on what they may offer in the mk 7 of course.
Thanks for all your help and understanding guys,
Stoney!
