bugger!! gti boot prang - damage thoughts please?

    Hi All,

stressed and in a rush i reversed into car space at a local golf course and bumped into a tree sticking out....

very annoyyed at myself, i've got a couple of pics - just wondering what your thought's are on:

    Cost / difficulty of repar?
Worth using my insurance (AMMI - just chcing on excess now)
or perhaps just sourcing a relacment planel?

Its about 7 - 8 cm's across and 3 -4 cms deep, i'm conerned that the panel is curved and if the paint chips off then it will need repainitng which makes me think about just replacing the panel (any standard white mk 6 golf panel would do)

thought's or similar experinces..? thanks in advance and take care parking!

and then on the way home i got a tiny stone chip at the base of my windscreen (I heard it and thought oohhhh sh****tttt!!) but luckily its tiny, should i leave it or repair ? its at the base of the windscreen near the dark vinyl so not in the main vision area etc - can they crack and spread?

I'd take the trim off and see if it will push out — often, if the metal's not creased and stretched it will spring out as easily as it went in.

I've sometimes succeeded with only hand pressure.

As to the stone chip, it might or might not spread — if it's only a surface chip it probably won't, but I'd have an expert look at it.

Don't push it out yourself, you will make it harder to fix, the paintless dent remover guys should be able to easily fix that.

    +1

Know someone who tried to push a dent out that would of cost in the hundreds if done by a PDR, ended up in the thousands after having to replace the whole panel becuase he stretched the metal.

I wouldn't think so — the brains of the central locking are elsewhere.
