Is a broken plastic plate around rear view mirror covered under warranty

I was driving on the weekend and all of a sudden I heard a pop and saw a piece of plastic fall from the rear view mirror.

When I stopped to have a look I noticed one of the plastic prongs (the plate has 3 in all) had broken off so the plastic plate no longer clipped in.

My question is should I attempt to fix it myself and glue the prong back on? Or would something like this be covered under warranty? I know it is a very small thing but it's certainly an annoyance nonetheless especially considering it seemingly just broke for no apparent reason.

Here's a photo. The broken prong is on the other side which is why you can't see it from this angle.

Had my rearview snap in my old polo tdi on a bumpy rd and was replaced no dramas under warranty.

I'd expect that should be covered under warranty. Take it in to your dealer, and save yourself the trouble of repair!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll pop into the dealership.

@leopoldbutterstotch: Did they just replace the plastic bit or fix it?

I had the same thing happen to that bit of trim. I'd be interested to hear the outcome as I haven't gotten around to taking my car to the dealer yet.

They replaced the part with a new one... As like with yours the clip had broken off.
As you can see it's not an isolated incident and the tech who had a look at my car knew about the problem right away.

He also told me it was a relatively simple fix as long as the broken part of the clip is not still lodged within the roof lining... As they would have to fish this out before the replacement part can be fitted.

Good luck with the fix... But I'm sure it'll be pretty straightforward.

That's great to hear. The broken clip fell out so it should be all good. I'm planning on heading into the dealership next week so will let you know how things go.
