Seriously! do it yourself.....paint $20, clear coat $16, R logo $10 (ebay)...4 hours work....thats cleaning, 3 coats, add logo on final coat, then add clear....easy!!
Hi all,
Looking to freshen up stock brake calipers from black to red (all 4 corners). Will be adding white Racing R logo post painting.
Can anyone recommend someone that does this work in Sydney? Has anyone done any similar work, prices etc?
I've been quoted $350 by Queen Street Group in Revesby so far - does seem a little bit excessive.

Thanks guys..
I've spent hours watching videos on how to do that myself I'm just not so confident on doing a good enough job.
These guys remove the caliper and do a proper spray throughout. I don't want to have the paint fade or chip away in a few months.
350 incl calipers removal work is cheap. this takes at least 10mnts each corner carefully (with proper tools).

$350 is a very fair price for all 4 if they do a 100% job of removal, cleaning, etc.
Too often I find service providers offer the earth & deliver a small vacant block 50km north of Broken Hill, so I'd be skeptical. Do they separate the caliper from the hydraulic hose & re-bleed the brakes afterwards? How many coats of paint & do they prime it first?
If you DIY it won't chip or fade in a few months. Even with the cheap Dulux spray enamel I use it still looks acceptable 12 months later - probably needs a quick tart-up every 2 years.

I'm fitting some new discs and pads soon so think I'll do mine while that's being done by my mechanic. Any tips and tricks and best paints to use would be appreciated.

I just use Dulux spray enamel but I rarely get much heat in my brakes. If you tend to give it some stick then use a heat resistant engine enamel.

About 6 months ago i purchased the DupliColor brake caliper paint and hi temp clear coat and the quality of the paint (actually i think its the clear coat that is the problem) is poor.
The original paint on the calipers (factory red coloured GTI calipers) was quite faded, made worse with wheel cleaners.
I prepped the calipers well, gave them a really good rub down with sandpaper and brake caliper cleaner etc.
The brakes looked fantastic when finished, super glossy and bright red - but the clear coat stayed tacky (even after several days drying time and heating it with a heat gun) which resulted in brake dust and road grime sticking to the paint. The clear coat has also gone a yellow sort of colour and now looks crap.
I just recently purchased the high quality Foliatec brake caliper paint kit and will be re-doing them soon. Lacquers and sprays | FOLIATEC.com
As much as it was a disappointment having the DupliColor paint turn out poorly, im willing to try again with the better quality Foliatec paint - and i hate having other people work on my car.
Hey Lucas, where are you buying this paint from?
