Box under Accelerator pedal - what is it?

Noticed a box weirdly placed under my accelerator pedal - is this normal? and what is it??

    Just a random Q!

You have probably never had a car with a floor mounted accelerator pedal before? Most cars accelerator pedal bolts on the firewall, whereas in the Golf (and many other cars these days) the accelerator is mounted to the floor of the vehicle.

The "box" you describe would contain plugs and wiring to support the electric throttle that these cars have.

    So yes, its normal.

I think it's just a bolt/screw under there (I replaced my pedals with the metallic ones)

You must have never owned a Datsun 1600. It had a floor mounted accelerator with a rod behind it pivoted to the firewall. I think a lot a cars were like that back then.

LOL, I was going to bring up my Datto 1600s (I had 3) but thought all the young-uns would have no clue what the P510 was
