Mine was with the documents, but I did get it in my 90TSI. It makes the compartment into cupholders, or clips neatly into the bottom. I actually found the cup holders aren't very secure for hot coffee unless you order a large.

Also, in this country where combining alcohol and driving is frowned upon, and soft drinks come with screw caps, I'm not sure that a bottle opener is really useful.

I've just checked the PDF Golf brochure I downloaded from the VW site a few months ago, on page 40 under 'Comfort and Convenience' it clearly says 2 front cupholders and bottle opener is standard across the entire Golf range (in addition to front door bottle holders). Just go back to the dealer, grab a copy of the Golf brochure and point it out to him and tell him to stop messing around.

Before you do though, a quick silly question, have you looked in the centre console with the slider top? At the bottom will be an indented holder for the opener where it should sit, and at each side of the compartment midway at the top are 2 slots for the opener to slide into for when it's being used to hold 2 cups. It's not in there is it?

Sounds like they have taken it. If you have no luck, try feabay. They are about $25 + shipping.

I would say it would be more productive lodging a formal complaint to head office. They won't be very impressed that this stealership is selling cars with "missing" parts and then misleading customers when asked about it.

Contacted salesman today, he said I should have had it in leather wallet, told him I didn't so he said well come thru and I will have it for you. Did, and have! A LOT nicer than the unit in the Golf5 ! No drama at all. He (Campbell) did not deliver car when I collected, he was having a day off as his wife delivered first baby, so I dont blame him at all, and he fixed straight away.
