    Boot light delayed turn on

When I open the hatch, the light takes several seconds before it turns on - it seems as if it is programmed deliberately this way, but it doesn't makes sense to me. Is this normal? I'll probably ask about it when I get the car serviced next week.

Hmm. By the time ive lifted my hatch far enough to see the light - which is mabye 1 second - the light is on.

Ive never noticed it to not be on when i open the hatch, so ive never paid attention as to how quickly it comes on - although i can only assume it would be the moment the solenoid released the lock in the hatch. (or perhaps once the hatch starts to come away from the locking mechanism).

If you remove the parcel tray, you will be able to see the boot light more clearly/easily so you can see how long it takes to come on when you pop the hatch.

I have an LED globe in my boot. It does take a few seconds to light up. Not sure if it's supposed to be doing that with a stock globe though.

This happens on my octavia. I have sort of linked it to the car being asleep. For instance, if I open the boot and the light is off, I can press the unlock button on the key and the light switches on straight away.

If I have just pulled up or something and then open the boot, the light comes on straight away.

Dunno, might be a coincidence still. Doesn't bother me.

For what it's worth, I got this fixed under warranty a while back. I turns out it was a bad switch somewhere.
