    bluetooth and aux in

    hey guys

after I installed my bluetooth (factory volkswagen) in my GTI the aux in stopped working. I was told by the dealer that i have to swap some wiring over to make both systems work (But he wouldnt tell me which ones). Has anyone had this issue before? which wires need swapping?

    Thanks in advance
    George

Wouldn't or couldn't? Either way gotta love that dealer. Apparantly they aren't all that apathetic. Just the ones you and I have dealt with it seems.

Good luck with the fault. I have the factory bluetooth which was installed pre delivery and it and the aux input work correctly.

    What bluetooth did you install?

You would have disconnected the audio in plug to replace it with the same type of plug that had the phone audio on board I assume. You need to take the connectors from the old housing and install them into the new one if this is what did occur.

The service advisors don't have that knowledge in their head and it's unlikely many of the service staff do either and without knowing what he did to install it how are they going to tell him how to fix it? At the very least they're going to have to look up the pinouts, print them out and explain them to him and on top there is 15-30 minutes gone which is chargeable time they have to account for.

i have just the standard bluetooth system not the premium one. i followed the instructions that came with the kit. all wires were plugged in as per instructions.

I had a look at the pin assignments for the rns510 from your website mavrick, it doesnt seem that i touched the aux in pins at all. this is confusing. could it be coding? I didnt check the box in the long coding that says aux in monitering.

You're right, they're each on their own housing but yes you have to tick the box on the head unit or it won't show up as an option. This should be all that's required.
