Thanks Corey - taking it down to the dealership later in the week and getting them to do it for me (don't trust myself).....

I was just going on this thread to see how I should mount a set of plates to my R32 and I was surprised to see my V GOLFR plates come up for discussion in the past few pages.

I apologise for causing offence for whatever reasons they may be. I bought two plates, one for the R32 and one for the future R (well, what I thought it was anyway before family situation changed that).

The future R may still happen way down the track so I'm in no rush to sell. Didn't know what the plate may be worth so initially the ad was for EOI. I didn't realise that was against policy rules so when I was forced to think about value, the first number that came to mind was $2000...that's what they're worth to me anyway. That's why I said people can say I'm dreaming...

Happy to hold onto plates for the future or offer it to someone who also believes they're worth it too. I may be the only person who believes they are and I'm ok with that.

Once again, apologies for any grief caused...

Picked up some tips...off to go do some drilling.......a bit nervous about that...

If you're drilling on your plates, put some masking tape on either side. That's recommended in the instructions from Lakin Plates....

And don't worry about having caused any offense. They're your plates, and you can ask what you wish for them

Thanks for the advice! I didn't end up drilling them today as I was fast losing light...need to do it first thing tomorrow as I have a VicRoads appointment!!!

I wonder why the suggestion on the masking tape on either side? I can understand when drilling from the number side to stop the drill from sliding?

I'll stick masking tape both sides just to be sure!!!

Truth be told, I can't remember which side he said to put it on, so I just said both

Check out the Video near the top of the Lakin Instructions Page

The good 3M automotive tape is very strong. Just a tip - bend the front plate gently to suit before putting it on, otherwise it may want to lift away over time.
