Just saw the link to VicRoads (almost) fully customised Euro Premium plates (Vplates.com.au - Custom Plates by VicRoads | - Vplates Home ).
Format still starts with V, but then a combination of Letters (up to 5) and numbers (2 max at the end).
Most plates with GOLF are already taken, but could get V-RRRR or V-RRR1 for the mere price of $895!
Otherwise the standard Euro's with some custom initials or something for $695.

Yeah nice and cheap hey? I'm not sure about the GOLFxx ones, there is a car at work with GOLFED on a normal TSI. I think of old people getting up at 7am on a sunday to go play golf hehe.

You know things are bad when we think $895 is cheap for 2 bits of metal with some letters that have zero functionality on a car

Yah... imaging having to pay $400 per year for those useless pieces of metal!

The golf r is a sleeper... Wolf in sheep's clothing... Why make it scream? I will only ever go for the bog standard random black on white plates... I would rather have a cool company vinyl on the back window or c pillar than a custom number plate... A full colour fitted vinyl for back window is ~$400... a small c pillar vinyl either side, ~$200... I know where I would rather spend my money... Not for everyone obviously... But for small business, represents much better value... I was going to get "ratedr" plates, but in NSW, far too steep...

Dermot is going to use double sided tape to stick on my plates for me, what is the best product to use seeing i still want them to be easily removed without damaging the paintwork and plates themselves?

You need to use 3M automotive stuff, its clear and can be removed with heat.
