You'll be able to mount the Lakin bracket straight to the existing OEM holder, Philip has seen and done it all on these cars so if you're unsure then he will be happy to talk it through.

Does one need to take of the OEM euro plate holder with Larkin plate holders?
It depends on the type of holder that you ordered. Certainly my front plate holder (on my Golf R) was designed specifically to have the OEM holder removed as it looks much cleaner and flush to the car. It mounts directly in the holes that the OEM holder used.

But as has been suggested, if you're not sure, just give Philip a call as he's extremely knowledgeable

I removed my OEM holder and plugged the holes with additional plastic clips that Philip provided which I painted. Not a fan of the big OEM plate holder. Best number plate / plate holder style-img_2093a_zpsm0oo6mvz-jpg

I had Euros on my mind due to the old posts sitting on top - agreed, if you're not doing full sized Euro then removing the holder and going the clean finish with the plugs works a treat.

I wish we could get the clean white on black here in SA. Maybe in a couple of decades they'll wake up..

I have an idea for those holes after seeing a photo on Lakin' website. How about small white waterproof vinyl stickers, like dots, that can go over the holes ??? cheap, and 100% unnoticeable! and FLAT! unlike the ugly rounded plugs.
if you have a white car, like me or a black car it would be perfect, those with coloured cars might have to get custom ones made up.
    Thoughts?

Im not sure how strong these ones are, or if they are vinyl or long lasting. but you get the picture.

Maybe laser cut acrylic that sits flush inside the hole. On the other side of the bumper you could glue the overlap. The look of it finished would look like a fake parking sensor

I pick up my white golf next week, I'm going to give this a go.
Going to find a white glossy surf sticker laying around and cut a 1cm diameter circle. If stickers stay on my surfboards through all the sun and saltwater, theres no reason why it shouldn't work on a bumper bar
and won't be needing those ugly ugly hole plugs!

How big are the holes once the bracket is removed?
