Why bother with lakin plate covers??
My R has full sized euro plates & the dealer fitted the covers and it looks perfect!!
Cost = $0
too easy
Why is everyone so concerned? I don't get it
GlennB, there are two size vic front Euro plates... but again, the brackets are CUSTOM MADE FOR EACH ORDER. I'm talking about custom made "to the mm" (yes, millimeter) of the plates for your order. So they'll fit whatever you need...
And yes, there are no mounting holes on the rear of the Golf. The benefit of the Lakin bracket there is that the 4 holes made can be within the "boundary" of a non-euro rear plate and that the cover seals to the bracket, so you should never get water and dirt between the plate and the cover.

I'd answer that but seriously... if you're not interested enough to look back a few pages to see the last time it was explained, then you probably don't care what the answer is anyway
Each to their own man. Your last post was saying how you don't get LED lights either. Earlier you claimed that you thought the Bridgestone RE050's were excellent didn't understand why people would want to change them. If you're happy with your car the way it is, then be happy and don't stress over it
Hey magellan, did you order through Barloworld too?
I placed the order for full sized Euro brackets and covers (front and and back) through Philip at Lakin plates today. I know its been said time again, but Philip is fantastic to deal with, very helpful and he gave me the VWW 5% discount . He said he'll get the goods to Barloword by Wednesday also which is perfect considering such short notice.
I think I'll ask Barloworld to install the brackets myself before driving off on the day of pickup, Philip suggested I either watch them put the plates on or do it myself there as you never know what sort of care the guy installing them will take.
I'll post some photos up on Wednesday/Thursday.

Yeah, I'd recommend being involved in the process. One of the things I've seen far too many times is crooked numberplates...
Doing mine myself. Lakin stuff is in the cupboard along with 3M double sided tape to get home with. Looking fwd to the diy job. Philip has provided a template and the instructions on this thread give me confidence. Will be fun.

Wish my dealership would just let me drive the car home with the 3M tape holding the plates up.. Would prefer to do the installation at home myself, but don't really want to get into an argument at this stage so I'll just grit my teeth for this one I think.

Nope the Euros don't come with pre-drilled holes!
