I believe you are correct Corey. Just spent 3 Hrs on choosing plates for my new TSI and the combinations are endless. Decided against the Euro plates cause I think there too long on the front. Instead went for the slimline black on white for the front and the standard size black on white for the rear. (the car is white BTW)
    Here's what I've ordered for $415
The Euro plates would have been $595 and the prestige $2295 - I can get my wheels for that!!

Why did you get the bigger plate for the front? The plate holder is only 112mm deep, so the standard plates overhang at the bottom.

$2295 for prestige? Wow. $1000 more than WA. Do you at least get background colour choices?

Brian said he got "slimline black on white for the front and the standard size black on white for the rear." so he has it the right way

Yeah, $2295 for prestige seems expensive but you should see the choices! We're not just talking background colours, we're talking full graphic options

Sorry, I misread. But even still, does the slimline not look right on the back or is it purely for cost reasons? Or is that the way they come?

Is this large black plate holder specific to the GTI?

I just drove past an MKVI (not GTI) and it had the black euro slimline without any large plate holder (couldn't tell if it had any holder at all).

The non-GTI models just have a recess for the numberplate:

Both the GTI and the R have an actual black numberplate holder:

I think the normal plate would look better on the back rather than the slimline. The plate area at the back could handle any size but the front needs the slimline. The Euro plates would not give me the option of the numbers I wanted and were $595 vs $415. The difference will pay for the window tint LOL

Do you know the size of the holder? I'm thinking of ordering a set of black vic euro plates for my R. NFI what letter/number combo though

    They come in 2 sizes:
    Standard 520mm wide x 112mm high
    Mini 372mm wide x 100mm high

Was thinking mini at the front and std at the rear. But depends on what is the best match for the surround.
