Best Motoring Vid - Sirocco vs MKVI GTI

Euro hatches have come a long way in the last 5years.

Notice the understeer caused by the ESP holds the GTI back on a few of the corners.

    Enjoy.

The GTI and Scirocco were pretty much neck and neck for the vast majority of the race.

Which makes sense, considering that they are basically exactly the same car, just in a different shell.

That Mini Cooper S kicks ass though!

I think the GTI driver needs some lessons, the Mini was hugging the apexes and GTI-san must have thought he was driving a bus - really bad driving line!

The drivers are from the Jap GT-300 and GT500 series in japan.

Will be interesting if they ever get the megan, Focus, and R20 together.......

Well i own a RS Megane 225 Cup at the moment and i am no M Schumacher, but i did absolutely obliterate a S2000 at Wakefield last year. I don't think that the GTI and Megane are that much different on the track (i could be wrong)!!! Anyway, my point is that the Japs are known to be biased towards their own and i really think that had the guy in the GTI driven better lines, i honestly don't think that the S2000 would have caught him......looks like a set up to me

A best motoring shootout can be a bit like a WWF wrestling match as far as reality goes.

But the drivers are certainly experienced.

Not sure the mini would pip the scirocco in a proper track test, see fifth gear comparison here:

It might have been caused by understeer of the car but given the Scirocco shares much the same as the GTI, it was rather amusing to see the GTI being unable to stay on the apex. The new XDL on the GTI is also meant to help improve cornering so dunno wat happened there...
