ya I had the same issue...had it fixed up about 3 months ago...they applied some type of lube to the lock mechanism...hasn't happened since, but I'm thinking once we get into some hotter weather, it may come back
The problem is movement of the door which causes noise between the door lock and the locking bar. The diagnosis is to moisten the locking bar with water and test. If this fixes it you clean both the locking bar and catch area and apply new grease (the solution). As to how long it lasts who knows but it's a simple job to re-lubricate. I'll post the TPI on my website when I get time.

I've taken a guess that you have this issue and merged your post
However, if that's not it, there are also these rattle threads....

I've been getting ticking sounds on the drivers side which I beleive are coming from the decorative panel. Everytime I apply pressure to it, the ticking stops.
There is also a second ticking noise which I haven't been able to identify it's source but sounds like it is coming from the driver's side mirror compartment.
Hi all,
first post, though i must admit i've been lurking the forum for a while. i just got my MY11 118TSI bout a month back and theres this ticking/rattle from the passenger side door.
its about the worst type of rattle out there. when you're alone, you hear it, even with the radio on. but when theres someone with you, it stops. brought it down to the service center today and it just refused to rattle for the guy. drove it back and, you guessed it, it came back.
YouTube - VW Golf Mk6 clicking sound from door
in the link you can hear the clicks at about 15 sec. before that its all good and quiet. just got lucky i managed to get a video of it.
if anyone else has this problem or knows a fix, do tell. any help at all is very much appreciated
PS. i know its not really loud but i'm pretty anal about such things and its my first car (that i bought)
Hey - I finally found another Mk6 Golf owner who has the beige leather interior (It's nice being unique).
I've had a similar noise a few times last year, always when alone, usually when on the freeway. I think it's something in my glovebox tbh - haven't really paid too much attention to it. I also think I had a loose audio wire on the left front door - I once saw something about it on my VCDS scan, so I got the dealer to look at it when I serviced the car. They said they took the door skin off and had a look and didn't find any faults - but it's been perfect since, which is great.
Hey mate. I'm sure that the information you need is in the B Pillar clicking / ticking & door rubber / seal creaking / squeaking thread.
If you look through that and find the info, let me know and I'll merge this thread with that.
thanks coreying, but my issue is more to do with clicking from inside the door, which apparently doesnt seem to plague that many people. thank God my B-pillars are fine.... for now
