Do you have xenons..?
Hey Guys,
Just wondering if anyone is using lamin-x headlight covers? How do you find the quality, ease of install etc.? Been looking at the "tint" colour and hoping I won't get pinged by the authoritahs if I use it? Interested to hear your opinions.
Cheers
Simon

Go for broke.. I know folk on this forum that had them done when they tinted their windows

The install looks reasonably simple from the vids. Just wondered what the quality was like, accurate shape etc?

I used Lamin-x film on my old Civic and it was quite easy to install. Had precut pieces for the tail lights but used rectangular sheets for the headlights (aftermarket 1 piece instead of the stock 2 piece). The trick is to just make sure you keep it lubricated and use a hair dryer to soften it up for any curves. I think I was done in under an hour. And I'm quite fussy.
To give you an idea of what the 'tint'] colour looks like, you can make out the colour difference between the covered front and back of the headlight lenses in this picture.
It's noticeable to those that know the difference, but you wouldn't get picked on for it by the cops. 'Gunsmoke' might attract some negative attention though as it's a fair bit darker.
I've got some more film for my A3 that I've been meaning to install but just been a bit lazy over the Xmas period (loosening up the tail lights to get a nice clean wrap around the edges seems like soo much effort at the moment, lol). Plus I'm waiting on my oem xenon headlights to get here.
As for the people worried about film over HID headlights cracking the lenses from trapped heat, it's not the case. Your standard 35w HID globe runs cooler than a 55w halogen globe. Just cos there's more light doesn't mean it's hotter. It's just a better technology.

I had it done on my rears about 10 months ago:
Lamin-X tail lights
Same 'tint' 6% you're looking at...
I was told by the guy who installed it that they should (should) have a life span of ~5 years....

I'm very happy with them.. It was installed at Reflect Effect (wasn't really keen to DIY)
