Anyone use their MK6 for track days or hillclimbs?

    Hey Guys,
I'm considering using my MK6 GTI for local hill climbs but I'm a little concerned about breaking things as the car is my daily.

Does anyone here regularly use their car for these kind of things? Have you had any serious issues or breakages? I realise it would depend a lot on how hard you drive etc. but would like to know if clutch killing etc. is a common issue?

    Cheers
    Simon

Fab_R tracks the shyte out of his R. Plenty of other guys using GTI's and R's for a bit of fun on tracks too. (quite a few on vwgolf.net too).

Hillclimbs can be tougher on your clutch and gearbox due to the frequent and violent fast starts, but they are over and done with quickly so heatsoak isnt as much of a worry.

Tracked cars dont have the violent take offs, but obviously punish the brakes and push the engine harder and for longer.

No harm in trying your car out on a hillclimb event and seeing if you enjoy it.

Cheers Lucas, was thinking of giving it a try. May take it easy for a few runs and see how she goes I'll be a bit careful with take offs as stage 2+stock clutch+hard take offs=risky business
