As stated below, this isn't always the case. Many dealerships are part of a larger company. So purchasing from one dealership out of state can have it transfered to another dealership in another state owned by the same company and registered there etc.

The other situation is the ACT dealers who can register a car for NSW etc.

Most of the Rego inspectors in the ACT will do NSW as well, being as quite a lot of the regional NSW close to us don't have many places to go.

Oh and I got my Candy White GTD from Belco, was looking at a long wait for a new order till I change my mind from the grey to the white.

I had typed that out, but suddenly wasn't so sure of myself on that one (ACT rego/NSW rego)

And just clean forgot about the linked dealerships.

But, what I say is true for dealerships who aren't linked to other dealerships and are not located in the ACT!

Another way - If you have a relationship with a dealer, you can get the car sent from the interstate dealer to your dealer and your dealer can do the pre delivery and rego for you. This is how I got my Cobra from Vic to NSW. I paid the Vic Dealer (not linked to the NSW Dealer) for the delivery cost to NSW and the on road cost of the car based on NSW rego and stamp duty. NSW dealer (Kloster Ford) did the pre delivery and organised NSW rego and stamp duty costs. NSW dealer charged these costs to the Vic Dealer. I don't think most dealers would do this, depends if you have a relationship with them or if they want to build one with you for the future

Yeah, this approach is up to your dealer and how good he/she is at negotiating... if the two dealers aren't affiliated, then they basically have to negotiate whether to trade stock. So if you were trying to get a white GTD with all the options, their chances of getting it from a non-affiliated dealer are pretty slim (ie, the original dealer could easily sell it).

Best of luck to you though! Do ring around, my last two cars have come from dealers with an average of 450km distance from my house, great way to run it it

Tried to call to Wakeling in Campbelltown today but no luck at all. They told me if I order now, I gotta wait for more than 6 months (which I guess will be even worse than 6 months). Good news from Barloworld which they are going to have one coming at the end of June. There will be a few options installed: MDI, Bluetooth, Leather seats. Drive Away Price will be around 46k. Do you guys think its a good price?

I saw a couple of ex demo cars now in the market (both around 6-7 thousands kms). Is that worthwhile to get an ex demo car with around 2-3 thousands dollars discount? Will there be also any problem with ex demo given that the engine probably didn't run in properly?

Anyways, better go home now from work. Thanks for the advice guys !!

Go for it - negotiate real hard for deep discount though.
I would not be surprised if the ex-demo has a "strong" engine - it definitely got a good workout everytime. I would argue that it is probably better run-in than most cars that got "babied" during run-in.
