    Air conditioner compressor failure

So i picked up my 118TSI on Friday the 10th of September and today Wednesday the 15th, the airconditioner pretty much blew up on me.

I took the car to the service department and they said that the fan had died and the whole fan would need to be replaced.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?

Welcome to the forums. I've renamed your thread as "mk6 118tsi" doesn't really tell anyone anything.
In the MKV there were a few compressor suppliers and one or two of the manufacturers had issues, but in almost 1000 threads, no one has started one for this issue on the MK6....

Yeah - it does happen... they're a mechanical part and even if tested, can fail shortly after. But that's what we have warranties for

    Thanks coreying!

Just been told by the service guys that it's the actual fan, not the compressor, there's more than enough gas in there!

Not too sure what has caused it but the dash has to be taken out to remove the entire unit and have it completely replaced... this is gonna be fun! haha

    Orly!
This did actually happen to one of our members... he put a pen in the "Owners Manual Compartment" of the glovebox. The pen then managed to migrate its way into the airconditioner pipes, and then broke the fans!

But yeah... fans are much the same really. Mechanical devices which sometimes just don't live up to spec!

The compressor is very much a single component the runs the entire air conditioning unit! But you also need to look on some areas like recharging the refrigerant and other parts that bugs down whenever the temperature of the aircon drops.
