Mine doesn't blast cold air (unless its really hot), but set at 22 it will silently deliver cold air on a mild day, at just 1 or 2 bars. Once I turned it all off thinking I'd be fine but I was very surprised how quickly it got hot inside (< 1 min), so I just turn it up to 24 and it's fine.

I mistook the sensor for the bracing between the two windscreen vents. Confirmed yesterday by covering it that it work much better when it was covered. The sensor came out easily with a fingernail. I used a bit of thin vinyl from a freebie crap phone cover which I cut to size and put between the sensor and its holder. Working perfectly now.

I also found that a spider is living behind my rear vision mirror. I wonder if it's Aussie or German...

Yep, can confirm the 'fix' seems to do the trick. I was driving yesterday in 28 degrees for a couple of hours and had the temp set at 22. Fan was on 5 bars to start with, and finally settled on 2 bars throwing just enough cool air to maintain the right temperature. Previously it would blow cold air from the vents at fan 4. Still waiting for a mild day, say 20 degrees, before testing the other end of the scale. Hopefully it will still perform as it should rather than trying to get the cabin to -5.

So how are you guys getting the sensor out? Pulling it and it's holder assembly out from the top of the dash? Or getting it out from under somehow?

Just pop it out from the top of the dash. It's not held in tight.

Can't wait to hear wait happens with the factory fixing this infuriating problem, my service dept just ignore me every time and say there is nothing wrong. My Mk 5 GTI was perfect but from day one my Mk 6 has been infuriating!

On these last few days mine has been fine - guess it's only too cold when it's mild outside. I've been leaving my windows open a smidge while it's hot as well, not sure if that makes any difference.

Mine was fine today in 35 deg temps with the sensor blocked.

    Anyone else have this?
There is another Climatronic problem knocking about where the air-con is set to North America which gives out a colder setting. To get a less cold output, the Climatronic is set to Rest of the World.

I can't verify this with VCDS as my system is too old.

Its in Control Module 08. The coding needs to be changed from xx xx xx 1x xx to xx xx xx 4x xx .

For this to work, I think the Golf has to have the newer Climatronic control panel in the centre dash that presents onto the RCD/RNS screen. I have the older 3 rotary dials and no coding is possible.
