ROFL!
I always joke with the missus that I'd let her take an indecent proposal if it meant neither of us having to work. Guess it could work both ways (hey there is #5). Now I just need my R to attract a sugar daddy?
Coming to this thread late as ive been away for a week.
Put another tick in the 40-49 range. Ive just turned 46 and am still using mid-life crisis as an excuse for my car choice.
First purchase was a V8 AWD commodore at 40 (lets see who can guess what that was?), I told my wife it was either a Mistress or a fast car. She said buy the car!
It was a relief cause a divorce is bloody expensive.
Next was my current 3MPS.
And I've been in love with Turbos ever since.
I love the look and ride of the R, nothing else came close for the same money.
Now every morning I go down to my garage and scream "I want it now!"
Guys we need more Photos.
So when your cars arrive, please post them so we can drool and make this insufferable wait more bearable.
Drive hard, or drive home.

Seems we are soul mates.. no I dont want a date.. just in the same mind space..but to help you rationalise the situation and cope with the wait consider the following
1. You already have the joy of experiencing a turbo hatch ( I dont)
2. Anticipation is a drug you will crave even after you take delivery so enjoy this time like a kid does christmas
3. you now know 20 other guys who get the pain in your head that your missus doesnt

im another one of those that doesnt agree I just ticked over the 30 mark a few months ago I own my own house outright , a few investment properties dont live with my parents and my parents were too stingy with the silver spoon and gave me nothing! quite literally!
I dont work for the mining companies I worked my arse off and pursued a career and balanced my personal life to achieve it Mind you working for a big 4 bank does kinda help the pay packet especially when bonus time rolls around
I personally dont think owning a golf r is special. Dont get me wrong... its a fantastic car.. but spending 60k on a car... to be honest most middle class reasonable income people could own with ease with good sensible financial management of their own finances
But i do fall into your category of being really really into cars and spending my excess dollars on them.. after i've put away a good chunk of it for sensible things
Owning exxy cars get special when they start hitting the 100K+ mark. Then i'll be impressed

Completely disagree, a 60k car is still a big stretch for majority of people and theres nothing financially sensible about spending 60K on a Golf R when you can buy a standard Focus for 20k. Lets face it, people buy cars like these because they put a smile on their face, not because they make sense financially. Not that there is anything wrong with that!!!
1986 MkII Golf GTI 16V (Sold), 2005 MkV Golf GTI (Sold), 2007 Polo GTI (Sold), 2011 Polo 66TDI (Selling), 2012 Passat 125 TDI Bluemotion, 2013 Scirocco R (Due October!)
these bank people dont need to worry about money, they keep rising the interest rates and other fees to make there $20B+ per annum combined.... of course $60k is not a lot of money when uve got that in mind.... (just stirring the pot, i love to hate banks!)
i agree with anarchycamp - if most middle class people could afford a $60k+ car there would be LOTS of them (most of us fit into this middle class demographic) - so why is it that i see so few of them? most of the cars on the road are worth <$15k (given the age of the fleet in general)
