Advice on DIY drivers mirror replacement

    Hi all

Does anyone have any knowledge on whether removing and replacing this mirror is an easy task?

Reason being, VW are going to charge me a bomb for replacing it, I can feel it.

Some bugger kicked my mirror in on australia day night and broke the swivel point.the casing and mirror look undamaged.

    Any advice for me?

Car is booked in next Wednesday for service and I want to be prepared to DIY if the ring and say it will cost me $1000 to fix.

    Cheers guys

In the manual I have it says remove the door trim and then prise the triangular speaker module off the door and presumably there will be some screws behind there that hold the mirror on.

Thats how most work except havent had to remove door trim on cars I have worked on

Here is a DIY from golf.net.au for fitting puddle lights in the mirrors and it shows how to remove the door card and mirror in detail. Not a hard job if you take your time and care.
