    9w7 Bluetooth module

    Hi guys,

I’ve been researching heavily over the last few weeks about changing my current Volk-L Bluetooth module to a 9w7 bluetooth module to unlock the full potential of my recently installed RNS510 (previously had a RCD310). I have the basic information but just confused about a few things. Would be really appreciated if someone could help.

My golf TSI 118 comfortline currently has a mic installed which allows me to call and that’s it with a MFSW and the high line MFD (not the MFD+ with the compass installed). I do not have the buttons in the overhead light section for Bluetooth connectivity or the Bluetooth module under my seat (need to find the module hidden in my dash or wherever else it could be)

    My questions are:
    1. When I locate the Volk-L and replace for the 9w7, is it straight plug and play with no coding at all (I don’t care about voice commands, just as along as I can place calls through my headunit and talk on the phone and play my music from my phone through the head unit )

    2. As soon as the 9w7 is installed, does the “PHONE” Option just automatically pop up in the MFD and I’m good to go?

If anyone has done this install or could point in the right direction, that would be really appreciated

I tried to make this post really detailed 9w7 Bluetooth module thanks guys

I have done this swap from a slightly lesser BT module, but a few caveats: I'm from the US, have a LHD vehicle and my terminology may vary from yours, but im sure we are more or less talking about the same thing.

    answers:

    1. this might be plug-and-play once you plug the module in. my steering wheel controls worked just fine. My BT module was located under my passenger seat. I'm positive yours will likely be under one of the front seats.

    2. as i had a slightly lesser BT module, I already had the PHONE option there so i cannot say for sure. If you do the swap and find it is still missing, i am certain you can enable this using VCDS.
