Bit disappointed with the service department at my dealer.
The manual states first service at 15,000 yet the dealer said at time of purchase 7,500 and placed a sticker on the car stating this.
seemed to be a grab for profits but didn't worry me until I received a letter yesterday saying they'd booked me in for my 6month 7,500 km service. they seem to be praying on people who don't read the manual or are easily persuaded.

Out of interest I rang another dealer to get an idea of the cost of the 15,000 service and they quoted $380.....that seems excessive for a disc pad inspection , oil and filter change plus resetting the service indicator and fitting service sticker.
How much they paying Apprentices these days anyway?

I got a letter from my dealer saying they recommend my vehicle is serviced every 6 months, or 7,500 kms, whichever occurs first. They also have tentatively booked me in.

I had a service at 6 months (which was about 8000kms) and it cost me $390. I only really went in becuase of issues I was having but figured that it was worth having the service done as well. I have to say that I am really happy with the car after the service even though I would have prefered not have shelled out the $390.

For what reason? Do you operate under one of the severe service conditions listed in the service/warranty book?

My guess is that the only severe service conditions are being imposed by the dealer....

Phoned the dealer, who said the 7500 km service is an oil change, and top up of fluids (window washer fluid etc), vaccum and wash. All for the bargain price of $180!

Took golf in the other day (8000kms on the clock) to local dealer because of creaking in dash, B pillar creak and ticking noise when turning steering wheel in any direction. Workshop mechanic took car for a drive to hear sounds (he was only able to confirm steering wheel ticking noise and creaking in dash). He noticed the odometer reading and asked if I wanted car booked in for 7500km service, (I was told when I purchased the car there would be a $110 charge for the 7500km service so I wasn't going to worry about it) explained this to workshop mechanic and on returned to dealer we asked service manager about charge and was promptly informed there was no charge for this 7500 km service, so I said you might as well do it then.....!!!!!!
So car got 7500km check over (no charge, but no oil changed) dash creak attended to, steering wheel ticking noise fix (have to wait for replacement part to arrive-been two weeks now) and car will have to be booked in again. B pillar creak wasn't heard so it wasn't fixed, at least its logged if that makes any difference.
    Service good, can't complain

Okay I got ripped off!!! 7,500km/6 month service set me back $390 at Wangara.. but to be honest was happy to pay to have the car looked after.

I just picked up my new GTI yesterday. The dealer offered me a complementary 5000 km service. Really happy with their service.
