    3rd mechatronic in 12 months

    Hi guys and gals,

Looks like my 3rd mechatronic in 12 months is about to ***** itself. Is it just bad luck or more to the story?!

First repair was mechatronic, clutch packs and forks. 511 kms later and the mechatronic died under warranty and replaced. 15k kms later, TCM fault, losing coms. Replace mechatronic out of warranty and out of pocket. Just under 100kms and the dreaded flashing spanner. Has anyone else been through this??

Are these remanufactured Mechs, 2nd hand or new? You would think your transmission specialist would have a 12 Month warranty?

Without seeing the error codes, it would be hard to say what the issue was, those DQ200's can be really troublesome.

I currently have a rolling warranty but damn this is frustrating. Not sure what the error codes are, the last time was a generic U0100, got that from the guy at RACV. I’m told that the units are reconditioned. Today I went for a drive, 20 minutes or so varied back streets and main roads, no spanner and no sign of anything being out of the ordinary but I’ve pretty much lost faith in it.

Fix it and sell it as if that is the twincharger engine you have a lot more to worry about than mechatronics

These gearboxes are nothing but trouble, but 3 mechatronics in 12 months is nuts. I wonder what is "reconditioned" in them - sounds like not much. You would be better off biting the bullet and paying for a new mechatronics to be fitted - obviously more money but at least it should give you some piece of mind that you can actually depend on the transmission to do its job. The "reconditioned" mechatronics are obvioulsy not up to the task.

Well it’s back at the transmission mechanics tonight, drove normal and no spanner flashing, I just hope it doesn’t make a liar out of me. I will keep posting updates, I’ve learned to hate inconclusive threads. Lol. I don’t understand what reconditioned is either, I would hope that the parts that commonly fail are replaced with ones that don’t? That’s a girls interpretation right there lol

Ok so the latest, took it back and drive fine, no spanner, trans guys had it for a day, no fault codes recorded and they drove it no issues. Yesterday I drove 2 minutes and it jumped out of gear, no acceleration, brakes and it clunked back in, did this twice more on my way back home (like a walk of shame). My dad started it today and there’s the spanner flashing and the check engine light is on too. Back to the shop on Monday.

That's no good; jumping out of gear on these is usually caused by a pressure loss in the system, either an internal leak or low fluid. There should also be error codes logged.

Here is an excellent video on how these Mechatronics are serviced \ put together DQ200 DSG Mechatronics full service! (Originally not building pressure) *PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION* - YouTube

Just be aware that a lot of places sell new ones but they are chinese ones and normally don't last long.

So it’s back at the shop now, my poor dad drove it there yesterday in 2nd gear the whole way, it didn’t change. They’ve apparently sent it off to what they said was their ‘programming guy’ don’t know what that means but anyways time will tell. Regarding the replacement mechatronic, they’ve put in a reconditioned unit with the fault parts supposedly changed or fixed. Will keep posting updated.
