    30k service and minor issues

I bought a MY11 77TSI DSG 2 months ago, 2nd hand from a VW dealer. The 2 year 30k service is due this month and I want to have a few things checked. I don't know anything about service, what's included etc as I've never owned a car before so apologies if I'm asking silly questions. First of all, there is a funny tick or click noise coming from the left front (passenger) side whenever I go over a speed bump (not really noticeable unless for the one in the passenger seat). The noise is just a single tick, it sounds as if the door is not properly closed but that's not the case. Could this be something mechanical (eg a bad suspension ball joint)? The other thing I have is that the car tends to roll forward when trying to reverse, I read that this is often the case with DSGs but I drove Polo DSGs before and never experienced this. Is this something that can be reconfigured? Are these things I can raise when doing my 30k service? And if so, am I better off bringing it in for a service at the dealer I bought it from as the car is still under VW warranty in case anything needs to be fixed/replaced? Or would a local repairer (costing half the price for the service from what I understood) be able to do the initial diagnostics during the 30k service?

they're all very reasonable questions for your dealer and should be resolved at the service and under warranty if it's a warranty item (the knock is), no need to consider a local repairer. It should make absolutely no difference whether you bought the car at that dealership or not as to the level of service you experience. My car was bought in toowoomba, serviced by an independent but taken back to VW Springwood for warranty items or concerns, it was never a concern and they were very good to me.

Thanks. So in my case, would you recommend trying to do the service at an independent saving a bit on the service costs but with the risk that they might direct me to the dealer to for warranty items or bring it straight to the dealer, pay a bit more but with the peace of mind that in case of any issues, they can be diagnosed and resolved there?

sorry i'd missed a bit of your first post to accurately answer your question. Check out the vendors section on here, or ask around for a reputable non-dealer mechanic (I'm not anti-dealer, I just like to know who's working on my car takes pride in their work and I'm getting value for money). It's usually a good saving by using a reputable independent, worked on by VW enthusiasts and for my instance I know what oil is going in. The independent will usually have to tools and knowledge to identify any potential issues and point you back to the dealer for rectification if it's a warranty item.
