It was when I was dropping off the car, I was checking that it was included in the service as listed and as I was checking it was mentioned that it was an additional charge even though it's on the paperwork under the originally quoted price.

The fluid does need to be done, I'll just be very annoyed if it's extra considering it's in the schedule as a standard item for the service.

    ----

Edit: A bit more research shows that it generally is in fact an additional item, even though it's listed in the schedule. Lesson learnt for me

I think ill change my brake fluid myself before my 2yr service this month. I have the sucker thingy with a trigger and bottle that works off an air compressor and im sure the little Golf will be no different to the other 10-15 cars ive done brake fluid changes on before. That will save some coin.

Will be booking mine in to Audi Newcastle again for its 2yr service (despite only 15,000km in that time) so will report back on their costs. I already bought my 5L of Liqui Moly oil last week to give them to use. And i changed my stinky cabin pollen filter about a month ago with a new genuine filter. I only really want to pay for the oil filter, disposal of oil/parts charges and the labour component. Oh and the dealer stamp in my book.

I watched as they changed the brake fluid when I had my 60,000km service at Ramspeed, There must be a Valve some where on the master cylinder because they fitted a hose there off a canister into which they poured 2 bottles of dot 4 brake fluid , they pressurized the canister and then released the bleeding nut on each wheel allowing about 250 mil from each wheel to drain into a bottle with markings on the side ,only took about 20 minutes to complete .

They just pressurise the system, to make bleeding the brakes more efficient.

Just had my 30K service, quoted was $440 but i had the aircon serviced for 88 bucks so it came in at about $540ish.,. A couple of things, firstly it seems my front tyres were worn on the inner rim. this is concerning given I am a pretty soft driver. Could be an alignment issue could be pressure but given the back tyres and the rest of the front were still at 60 -70 % I should have doubled the wear.

A nice touch though was I found the doors were not aligned and sitting flush so asked them to address and they are now tight as a drum.

Other than that not a niggle.

I bought a litre of the VW window wash concentrate.. anyone tell me what the mix ratios are it isn't on the bottle..??

Assuming you bought the same VW wash I did, the label on the bottle peels back from the bottom right corner revealing ratios. Took me a little while to figure out...

So here in chilly Canberra I went for -16 which covers for wind chill when moving which is 1 part wash to 2 parts water (333ml wash to 666ml water) but in Sydney I'd go for the recommended 'Sunny' ratio which is 1 part wash to 4 parts water (200ml wash to 800ml water). I dilute with distilled water to avoid mineralisation blocking spray jets.

    Re: 30,000KM Servicing Costs.

Damn that's a lot... Given there is 6 liters of fluid you only get 2 fills from a bottle at 15 dollars a bottle I reckon it is back to the SCA brand
