Quattro Motors, Burswood Perth did the 30,000km service without the oil and oil filter costs (because the selling dealer had done it) for $255.

Hmm can anyone clear up a question I have. I rang three places to get quotes on the 30k service and one dealer came in below the price of CVWC so I asked all of the people I got quotes from what the 30k involves. CVWC told me the same as what the book says as did another dealer but the cheaper one said that it was the same as the 15k as VW have extended the brake service to 3 years rather than 2.

    Anyone clarify this?

Two sources I spoke to would differ and they are VW John Hughes Victoria Park and Quattro Motors Burswood both in Perth.

I only spoke with two and they both said the same thing - normal service but includes the pollen filter and brake fluid.. I didn't need the pollen filter as it had been done but def had the brakes done.

Can I suggest a lovely day trip to Canberra??

Just had my MY10 GTI serviced at Gerald Slaven VW, all up, inc. parts and inc. GST, $210.15

The service itself was only $108+GST.

I did however, change oil/oil filter/sump plug last night to save $. The invoice had to be corrected - they wanted to charge $94.50 for the oil alone. Sump plug and oil filter was only $35. Even then, the 30,000kms service would've been $334 if I let them do the oil change......

I'm liking the transparency of the attached service schedule.....

thats all well and good in theory, being $330 odd, but whats your time worth. doing an oil change and chasing up buying parts is at least 2 hours work in my book. and i dont have 2 hours to waste doing that. thats why i pay others to do work that i cant afford to spend time doing. so figure it being well over $400 when its all said and done.
ill just let my vag independent do it for the $300 odd that i paid

    Hi M16 Man
Im a little perplexed, you saved $$$ doing your own oil/ filter/sump plug change yourself ??
Are you qualified ? (ie/licenced mechanic etc), or did they just take your word for it and be done with it !!!!
Im a sparky by trade, (and my own services when i can), but i couldnt see a dealer service centre letting me do that to save bucks (i certainly would if i thought i'd get away with it).
For example, how do they know you've used the correct specified oil (i dont doubt that you did), you cant tell by looking at it.
I see that there's a line through the "oil change" on the docket, how does this still retain the engine warranty ?

Being a customer of their's for a few years and knowing the staff well and showing a genuine interest in the car, they have 'approved' me (in writing) conducting an oil/filter/plug change the day before service.

I have receipts for the 'right' oil from a wholesaler in NSW and for the parts from their dealership.

With regards to warranty, the service book is stamped.....WINNER!

And no, am not a grease monkey, I work for a HRMIS company. So yeah, they 'trust' me. More importantly, I know the job will get done to my personal standards. No thanks to a local Peugeot dealer, did I start to undertake this task. 8.5L of engine oil in a 206 GTi180 is not a good thing.....
