Not for the Recaros in the Golf R.

True... just for the standard cloth or optional leather seats in the Golf GTI or Golf R.
You lift the handle, pull the seatback forward, which will in turn slide the entire seat forward.
The trick is, and what catches my friends out often, is you need to then slide the seatbase back to position first, then lift the handle and tilt the seatback back. If you tilt the seatback backward first, then the seatbase won't slide back and has to be repositioned manually. This isn't such a big issue with the passenger seat though, but it'd be annoying if it were the drivers seat. However, I almost never have anyone get in and out of the back through the drivers side as it's the "traffic side" anyway.
