2012 GTi Mk6 - Auto Window wind up with key fob fails on one window

    Hi All,

This has just happened to me and wondering if anyone else has seen this.

I had all four windows down - air out the car post torrential downpour Sydney has experienced. Drove up to the shops and then held down the 'lock button' to wind up windows. All of them but rear driver went up.

Going back to the car, I unlocked put the key into ignigiton and operated the drivers door switch for the rear windows and it went up - however it did not go up in auto mode/one touch (all of them used to do that)

Coming back home - just experienced the same issue.

Any thoughts before I ring VW tech?

hmm interesting...Usually the way I've overcome this (happens after battery disconnect) is I individually go and put the window all the way down and then all the way back up. After i've done this with all 4, I will go ahead and do the one-touch auto up/down and it works...

That's correct, and the process is documented in the owner's manual. When the individual door controllers lose power, they lose their memory of the bottom and top points required for the one-touch function. That can be set by simply lowering the window all the way, and then raising it all the way.

If the above post does not work after doing the reset as per manual then I would suspect the window motor/control unit is not holding its memory and might need replacement....VDUB...

I read that - but for one window to lose it? seems strange. It is a new car (3 months old) and with all the Sydney rain I was thinking it might be condensation related.

My Mk5 had the same problem but it wasn't consistent as to which window (though mostly a rear one). Mk6 I have hasn't had the problem but I've used the feature less.

Have had the one touch in both the R and wife's CX-9 do this once or twice. Don't know how it got fixed but it sounds like koji and AdamD have it right.
