    18 inch tyre pressures

Sticker says 260 front and 300 rear. Thats about 36 and 43. Checked mine as I read here that sometimes the delivered pressures are high. Set them to 34 all round to see what happened for my normal commute on roughish roads. Noticeably smoother and seems like less tyre rumble on coarse surfaces.
Given that the rear is lighter I summised that 34 rear would not cause adverse wear but wondering what others may think of that? Comments or advice?

I'm also running 40 psi all round on my R

Assume it could be different for FWD however. Was on my GTI. Will be different again for your GTD

by reliable, you mean calibrated right. you could be lucky and buy an elcheapo guage and fluke that it was spot on, then again you could spend 40 bucks, and it would not be unreasonable to get readings of +/- 2psi at around 40psi. Ideally, you'd get one guage calibrated at 40psi, then all other guages could be checked against it.

I run 40psi of nitrogen all round on my MKIV R32. But probably best to see what your sticker says

Sadly a bit more than $40, but it is calibrated ..... from the manufacturer's website

"Designed to meet EC standards and constructed in die cast aluminium for lightweight ease of use. Dual scale standard calibration is 0 - 138 p.s.i. and 0 - 9.6 bar.

Magnified linear scale is to a guaranteed accuracy. Each gauge is supplied complete with a certificate of calibration and full installation operation and service instructions. Packaged in a robust, easy to display colour box. Manufactured in England to the highest quality standards."

They sound like pressures for full load to me.

Are there no pressures listed for half load?
