There seems to be some confusion that you have to go to VW dealer to have your car serviced to maintain the warranty.
This is NOT the case.
You just have to have your car serviced as per the VW Service outline.
I purchased a VW extended new vehicle warranty from a VW dealer when I purchased my 2010 GTI. The warranty is under written by Alliance.
After speaking to Alliance you DO NOT have to go to a VW dealer to have the car serviced.
After comparing VW Dealership service costs to independents - I'll be going to an independent to service my car.

VW Sutherland quoted $420 for 15 000 Km service.
Ended up going to exoticars where they quoted $290.
I wonder what costs $420 to change oil and filter and check ups for a car that has done 7 500 Km hmmm...
At any rate I would recommend exoticars for their great price and they used liqui moly oil too.
Sounds a very reasonable price. I spoke to 3x sydney dealers today and a 15,000km service for a MK6 Golf ranged from $420 - $490 incl GST. I'm all for supporting VW but when compared to an independent - these prices are ridiculous.

Just has my 12 month service (only 5000km on the odo) done at Exoticars. $280.

Got a special "trade" deal with Paul Wakelings at Campbelltown. I supplied my own oil and the 15000 service cost me $197.00.
It helps when you know one or two people there and help them with some diesel diagnostics.
