I believe the shudder is a mechanical issue, not a software issue.

Be sure to mention it to them when you return to have the storage compartment replaced.

just had my 15 thousand km service on the R done at Gold Coast Volkswagen.. $395. Really good customer service, kept in contact with what was going on (I reported an issue with front brakes - turns out the callipers weren't lubed from the factory so the pad wasn't completely making contact with the rotor) - was making a slight squeal under light braking..

I weighed up going to the private VW specialists 5 mins away.. (VAG in southport) .. they wanted $340.. so for the extra $50 I'd rather get it done with the dealer and get the VW stamp in the book. i thought private would be around the $250 mark but appears i was wrong.

Just had GTI 15K serviced at barlow world fivedock sydney. Total cost $365 (under fleet discount) included rotation. They also had a look at some rattles and squeeks in the car and fixed them too. Daniel from their service department is really knowledgeable. Asked him a bunch of questions about the car and he explained in detail. Gino the service manager confirmed that servicing with the dealer builds up 'goodwill' and any issues in the future would have a better chance of being fixed at no cost. Also any future oil or washer fluid top up he said just drive around and they will do top up for no charge. All in all happy with the service.

Man you guys are getting ripped off majorly for servicing. If you are in the major cities, PLEASE go to an independant Euro specialist:

eg: Sydney - RamSpeed, Exoticars, BWA Auto
Brisbane - BPS Autos, Alba European
    Adelaide - MRL Automotive
    Melbourne - RTR

I got quoted $420 from VW Newcastle to do my 15,000km service. I laughed and hung up. I got it serviced at Audi down the road for $250.

$250 is bloody cheap. They wouldn't have made much out of it.

Bank error in your favour by the sounds of things!

If you're prepared to keep using them, then I guess they'll make it all back eventually.

My brother works for them (salesman) so they prob charged me a lower rate? Its a combined Audi/Skoda partnership so theres all types of VAG vehicles there.

yeh lucas, thats not really applicable to the majority of people tho is it. so no use gloating about it. the fact that u have an "in" makes the pricing attractive. what would the price be for any slob off the street tho? im sure it would be similar to the normal audi servicing rates, which is about $140/hr for workshop rates at the least. plus they charge $25 or $30/ l for the castrol oil, thats 5l min.

i know, as a mate i train with is the service manager at buckles audi in brookvale and he told me the price that he could do a service for and it was about $350 with their oil, if i brought my own oil, then it would drop substantially, but not as cheap as what u pay

^ sorry - im not trying to tick anyone off. I bought my own oil (Liqui-Moly) and that $250 included the price of my oil. The actual service that Audi did was $190.

My point was simply for people to consider getting prices from independant Euro specialast service centres and/or try a Audi dealership.

Just further elaborating on the money that can be saved, our Mazda is due for its 1yr/20k service next week. Mazda want $360 for it, but i found a Mazda specialist who will do the service for approx $190 (approx price given over the phone).

I've priced local independants versus dealerships going back to my MKV.

Denlo (my MKV) were excessively pricey versus Bill Buckle (my R) who are close to the independants I got quotes from.

Close enough in price that I prefer to use Bill Buckle plus I know the guys very well and we have an excellent working relationship.

Some independants (personal experience) need to smarten their skill level up (will remain nameless) !
