Yeah, the "justifying your purchase" isn't necessarily aimed at you MariusGT. It's just that there is a noticable trend at these forums. The 118TSI was the fastest MK6 for a while, and then when the GTI came out there was a whole heap of threads and posts with 118TSI owners stating why their car is better than a GTI. Now the R has come out and there are a whole heap of threads and posts of GTI, even even 118TSI owners, stating why their car is better than then R etc (and some Tiguan owners too! hehe). I think some people have just seen a lot of it recently and have gotten a bit tired of it.

One member said to me (paraphrasing) "with respect to the Aussie V8 drivers, you never seen Holden SS owners trying to convince people that their car is better than a HSV GTS, why do VWWc members feel the constant need to do the same with their 118TSI's/GTI's?".

As I and others have said (even in the last 30 minutes in other threads in this MK6 forum), we're all driving VW's, we're all VW enthusiasts and lovers, lets just respect each other and be happy with the purchases we've made. If you like your R/GTI/GTD/Tiguan/Passat/Polo/118/103/90/77, great! No need to attempt to convince another VW owner of why your car is better than theirs
