Good to see you've got a healthy sense of humor.

While browsing around on the net I noticed the various articles on the mk7. I'm not surprised about them dropping the 118 twin charged but was surprised not to see any real replacement. It's a shame to lose such a zippy little car that looks so sedate.
It looks like I'll definately be getting the warranty extended now to make selling the car easier.

I think the 118kw engine will be replaced by a hybrid, not due for release until later though.

Found a suitable flat road for testing the acceleration of my APR Stage 1 118TSI DSG (few a few of the heavier options ticked). I knew it was around 6.8 seconds to 100kph but wanted to do a better test using the Torque Pro app for Android, connected to the car's OBD port via bluetooth.



Using Sport mode with TCS on. Just get too much wheelspin with it off. Needless to say I'm pretty impressed. The 1.4L twincharged slightly beats the GTI and matches a stock Mk5 R32.

Actually if anyone has a GTI with Android phone I'd be interested to see their result. Torque Pro costs $4 and the bluetooth adapter is about $15 from eBay.

Was a while ago but then only problem I recall having was not being told what the PIN code was, tried the usual 0000, 1234, 12345, etc and then asked the eBay seller who said it was 6789, or was it 7890? Besides that I just connected to the device in the normal phone bluetooth menu, paired it (automatic connection), then went into Toruqe, settings, and from there.

I spent over $200 per corner for tyres and I do sim racing at home so I don't experience any cornering issues.

ahah, those tyres probably explain why what you call your "OBD speed" is 97 kph instead of 100kph (someone else called it "ABS speed"). It'll be due to their diameter being different to stock. My guess: they are 3% larger in diameter?

I like your trick to find out the OBD speed by zeroing the average - must try that on mine. I already know my speedo is 4kph slow according to GPS (which is super accurate provided car's speed is steady, but slow to react when speed is changing).

I don't think I've ever owned a car that didn't have the odometer read slightly higher than the actual distance travelled. The golf is like all the others but the speedo is different again which takes some getting used to.
