Not entirely correct. If the dealership is given sufficient opportunity to rectify a fault & can't make progress there are precedents of a replacement vehicle or a refund/buyback. At least one Polo owner on this forum & another guy I know with a Volvo which was initially replaced & then the replacement vehicle was bought back.

My mate with the Volvo had his car back to the workshop 6 times in 12 months & it was off the road for about 12 weeks all up. On one occasion it broke down with 1 hour of him picking it up from 3 weeks in the WS.
Your rights are all on the ACCCs web site but people rarely bother to work through the process as it is still biased towards the supplier.

Thanks for sharing - followed the process to a t 2 years ago went to tribunal and was turned away for member said he did not want to set a precedent. He was also of the opinion that the matter was trivial and did not warrant a refund.

Absolutely my last comment.
Dealer replaced 4 pistons. Picked up car yesterday evening.
Engine revving unusually high at idle.
This morning car will not start - VW road service came to have a loom and could not get it started.
Car back at dealer and am on shanks pony.
Interestingly for me VW road service tried to tell me that no record of my car rego or vin exists under my name - I have owned it since new. Perhaps VW do not want them to keep a log of the multiple times it has been towed back to the dealer or had issues.
