    118 TSI loss of power

Any ideas on what could be the problem?
    Car - manual Golf 118 TSI 10MY 45,000km
Problem - loss of power once trying to exceed 3000 rpm, all gears. Yellow engine/ECU light active on dash.
No shuddering or loud bang. No previous signs of power failure.
All fluid levels ok. No excess smoke or fuel usage. No strange sounds while driving.

Inital thought supercharger or turbo gone as car still runs well (up to 3000 rpm) or softwear issue preventing reaching the rpm level.

Don't have access to VagCom to conduct diagnostics.

Welcome any educated guesses on this one.

I take it you mean 3000 RPM as they idle at 800.
My guess if the revs are OK up to 3000RPM and then nothing afterwards is a blocked fuel filter or turbo issue. We had the reverse on ours. Wouldn't rev first up but would cruise at 110kph once you got it there. Was the flapper valve that switches the intake air from the supercharger and turbo. Could be that too. Best find someone with VCDS cable, or if still in warranty then take it to the dealer.

The same symptoms occured on my Skoda Octavia 1.8TSI. It kept going into some kind of limp mode if I tried to push the engine beyond 3000rpm. Turned out to be a failed high pressure fuel pump. Costed me $450 to replace as it was out of warranty by 6 months when it occured. Ouchhh....

Problem ended up being a faulty fuze in the water pump - pump required replacing.

Are you sure the fuse was in the water pump?
