At the beginning of April 333Racing and Shanghai Volkswagen launched the Polo-T racer powered by an FIA approved 1.6L Turbocharged engine producing 250hp / 184kW. While its debut race in the Chinese Touring Car Championship (CTTC) did not mark success, this pioneering technology is what will be powering future WRC teams - I am watching this space with interest.
Volkswagen Motorsport will announce in May its WRC intentions as senior media representatives have already received invitations to the event. VW is tipped to rally in a WRC spec Polo with a 1.6T engine.
Stay tuned as we bring you information on the WRC program and progress of the Polo 1.6T in the CTCC.
