    Trailer pre-wiring AUS Delivered Tiguan

    Hi There,

Just wondering if anyone could help me.

Can someone confirm if Australian delivered Tigs come with trailer pre-wiring.

I took my boot lining out yesterday and found the RED plug that goes into the trailer module but no BLACK plug that goes to the socket at the hitch.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Yes they are pre wired since about 2010. You have the red plug that will go into the control unit for the trailer, then in the kit you buy that has the control unit you also get the wiring to the tow ball which is the black plug also to the other side of the control unit. Then you just need to join the CAN BUS wires under the dash on the drivers side and then code to the gateway and your up and running....VDUB...

Thanks for the feedback. I thought that may be the case, but some of the DIY's make out as if the black cable should be on the car already.

I was looking at this kit and been talking to the supplier. 2009 2014 VW Volkswagen Tiguan Complete Trailer Hitch KIT Genuine Brand NEW | eBay

Are you able to source this kit?

    They're not ADR-approved.

There's an Australian-specific towbar for them, but the wiring kit is the same.

Ah no probs - do you know the code for ADR approved version? Is it DIY friendly?

Have you priced it up from vw parts? Not all stuff is more expensive....ie. repco vw brake pads are more expensive than gen vw from a vw parts guy!...VDUB...
