Mirror Dipping in Tiguan - Confirmed

Just a quick note to confirm that AutoPolar FIS+ Advanced unit I installed on the weekend does in fact support dipping the passenger side mirror when selecting revese gear.

Had a quick play around in the car at lunch and got it working.
I'll have to post a video/instructions of it later, but you can set the mirror to tilt down when revese gear is selected.

    Installation of FIS+

For any Tig owners thinking of adding this to your car (I'm aware of a couple of guys with units but not yet installed), here's the link to the installation thread here: FIS+ Installation in 2011 Tiguan 125TSI

It took me about 4 hours hunting around under the steering wheel / through the firewall to finally locate the CANBUS gateway connector behind the glovebox.

It's a relatively simple install - remove glovebox, disconnect battery, connect up FIS+, re-install glovebox. Should take half an hour or so at moderate pace.

The unit allows you to read a lot more diagnostic information - boost/fuel pressure, engine/intake/exhaust temps, remaining litres, accurate speed (unaltered), engine RPM and a heap more. 4 parameters per screen and you can configure up to 16 screens of info if you choose.

It also allows you access to a number of other features that can be enabled through VCDS like changing the number of indicator flashes, locking at 20km/hr and a few other features that I've yet to explore.

    Hi mate,
looks like a top little gadget - have to seriously consider getting one
One question though, does it give same functionality to be able to change settings that VAGCOM does? I haven't got VAGCOM, but just want to make sure I can set up things like the mirror dipping function without it.
    Cheers
Found this link which answered the question...

Obviously (as it's plugged into the Comfort/Convenience Module) it allows you to make some mods there, which is really all I'm after.
Will PM you re getting one.
    Cheers

Yes it does some of the VCDS functions/features which are implemented via selectable menus through the MFD.

    FUNCTIONS AVAILABLE

[+] TV-Free function to see video in motion
[+] Battery drain fix for vehicles equipped with RNS-510 and old gateways before index "K"
[+] Parktronic OPS emulation function (see Parktronic screen in RNS510 with Parktronic PDC ecu) (only available with Skoda vehicles)
[+] Confort blinkers configurables from 3 to 10 blinks
[+] Mirror lowering function (passenger mirror goes down to a configured position when engage reverse gear)
[+] Add BT Hands free compatibility with White dot Hands free units (Can works with all models of BT for white dot cars up to this date)
[+] Activation / deactivation of RNS-510 hidden menu
[+] Basic functions availables with diagnostics cables:
1 - Adjust sensibility percentage of automatic wiper
2 - Adjust sensibility percentage of automatic lights
    3 - Activation/Deactivation Daytime running lights
    4 - Activation/Deactivation cornering lights
    5 - Activation/Deactivation american lights
    6 - Activation/Deactivation cornering lights
    7 - Activation/Deactivation warning lights (with blinkers)
8 - Activation/Deactivation of second rear fog light
    9 - Activation/Deactivation windows automatic rain closing
    10 - Activation/Deactivation automatic closing at 20 Kmh
    11 - Activation/Deactivation one touch closing

Though there's a lot of things in VCDS that aren't possible/implemented in FIS+. Things like clearing faults, scanning hardware and running logs - so VCDS still has it's place.

The FIS+ unit has ability to display a lot of the engine parameters direct into MFD which is neat. Here's the list for my Tig 125TSI:

    Km/h
    Out ˚C
    RPM
    Batt. V.
    Fuel Lit.
    Oil ˚C
    Amb C
    Intake ˚C

    Load %

    Pedal 1
    Pedal 2
    Valve 1
    Valve 2
    Tprq. Nm
    Power CV
    Oil level
    Inj. Tim.
    A. BTDC?
    Mis. 1
    Mis. 2
    Mis. 3

    D.2KW
    D.3KW
    D.4KW

Though not sure why I need Side G in the Tig... as I really don't corner that hard

Posted tonight so you should get it early next week.

And re "Side G" diagnostics I've got some Whiteline front and rear swaybars plus an anti-lift kit to be fitted so I might just have to do some before and after tests...

Now that I have this new toy, just wondering whether we can compare some stats.

    Boost PSI: -7 to -1
    Torque Nm: up to 320

Curious what other Tigs are reading (both stock and flashed)?

But back to topic ... can't seem to get automatic mode to work at all for mirror dipping.
Also even manual mode resets itself after a while.

I assume the configuration once saved is supposed to be saved down for good?

Ignore this, i just stumbled across a link to the Complete guide.

Though i still would like to know what people are paying for them?

I dont have all day to read the other thread but whats the idea behind this box? and whats it worth?

Is it simply a way of enabling more info on the MFD? and some other functions for the car as listed above?

Given that is monitors all those engine parameters i wouldnt mind getting a hold of one if its reasonably priced.

Also, is it accessed and adjusted through the MFD or a laptop?

I've got my boost pressure set on mbar as I found the PSI reading was a little coarse for my liking. I'd have liked at least one if not 2 decimal points on the PSI reading. Will have to put it on a "wish list" for the developers.

I'll have to check my Nm values. I have a tune + DP so would be interested to compare values... and then to stick it on a dyno and see if it measures right.

Check what firmware version you have. I know there were issues with omfort settings not being saved properly in version 0.3.1. I've updated to 0.3.2b2 and it's fixed.

With "automatic" setting you have to put it in reverse with your indicator on for it to adjust. It shouldn't matter where your mirror selector switch is in "automatic". I have to admit I haven't played with this setting as I use it in "manual" mode so I can reverse back down the driveway. I don't want to have my indicators on just to do this.
