    From RCD-510 to RNS-510

I have 2009 passat sedan tdi with rcd-510 and 9w2 Bluetooth kit...Ofcourse, white MFD...
I plan to change rcd-510 to rns-510 and new Bluetooth 9w7 using Burwin vw service...All part are original from Germany
Main reason for this is GPS...
    Question:
Can I except any problems in installation..? I do not want lost my optical parking system and Bluetooth as well..
    Any advice? Suggestions?

You can expect to pay a lot of money for something you could likely do yourself, or with the assistance of a forum member for a little beer money.

Apart from that OPS and BT will work the same with the RNS510 as they do with the RCD510 provided the coding is correctly done via the diagnostics port in your car.

It's very very simple to do. From memory, everything just works without any coding at all *except* directions showing in the MFD. So even if you can't code it in, it still works just fine.

Installation is some trim and four screws, then a couple of plugs. As kamold has said, give it a go yourself or bail up a local to lend a hand.

The RNS 510 is available on here for about $1200 so you would need to get it cheap from Germany.
And why pay a stealer $125 an hour when a case of beer would cover the time

Actually it has one of the worst GPS units Ive come across The rest of what the unit does is quite good but as a GPS it makes a great boat anchor

It's missing a pile of what I would call "standard" features... but it's built in. Hell how inbuilt systems still manage to keep a huuuge price tag, zero features and expensive map upgrades (which are usually well behind the curve) vs $99 units with lifetime updates and better features.

That said, it always seems to get me from point A to point B without issues.

So is the one in my friends Mazda CX5 and it has Tomtom for an operating system and is as good as my Tomtom Go730. so why cant VW use a system like that instead of the crappy mapping system they do use. At least it would update more often and keep almost up to date instead of being at least a year out of date at least
Personally I find one in the corner of the windscreen easier to glance at than looking down at the dash and away from the road principally because the bloody thing doesnt say the name of the street you are turning into Has caused some angst occasionally.

I find I look at this one much more than the Tomtom that says turn into smith St in 50 metres.
It is also is about 50m behind the car on the map which caused me to turn into the wrong st which was close to the one I wanted in a very awkward spot I guess its better than the Garmin I had which said turn now 50m AFTER the street LOL

    From RCD-510 to RNS-510

To be fair I'd seriously consider tossing the RNS for a tomtom based system as long as it supported RVC. The rest if the OSD I don't care about.
