No its like that if its the only thing running too.

During the day it doesn't bother me at all. Even on the brightest setting. At night the GUI itself isn't too bad although at times I find myself wishing it was a little dimmer. For me it's mainly when the reverse camera comes on. Its like the screen switches to max brightness and makes even seeing out of my side mirrors difficult when reversing cause there's this glowing beacon in the middle of the dash where everything else is dark.

Also there is no switching at all when you switch the headlights on/off. Shouldn't this happen? I would have thought so. Ideally I would like it to be on the 1st - 2nd brightest setting during the day(lights off) and then a bit dimmer than the current dimmest setting at night (lights on). This way it would switch automatically with the auto lights.

Would something like this be feasable or totally out of the question?

    Thanks Sandy

If there was a lower brightness I might get back on board. I drive on the Bruce Hwy every day & have my dash on lowest. My current Chinese rubbish glows like a nuke on min, so I turn it off. I don't want to have to do that with a head unit.

Does anyone have any idea if I've wired the front wiring for the reverse cam correctly? Does it need to be grounded here? I had help so I believe it was done right at the rear, but I can get a pic of that to, if need be.

So far it never really shows theres a camera installed, it just shows the sensor display. But a handful of times the grid showing the reverse alley thing has come up since installing...

The brown head unit connector leads to the brown black and orange wires, as well as the yellow connector. The red power wire from the camera is connected to the positive power wire from the head unit.

    Thanks

Again, i've never had any issues with the backlight being too bright at night. Screen dimming works fine. If anything i'd love it to be brighter (as i've said before, in the middle of the day, in aussie sun, it can be hard to read).

Which RVC? Have a look at the tips and tricks section (I think its called) of my spreadsheet. It has wiring guides for both the license plate version and the flip down badge version.

Update guys, I will be receiving the latest firmware update in a couple of days. They are currently doing testing on the latest revision, and they claim that they have fixed my major concerns (being radio losing sound when car starts after the unit starts, SD / navigation memory conflict issues etc). Fingers crossed if that's true I can finally organise for delivery - will be revealed in the coming days.

They're still working on the finalised version which is supposed to be a big update. I have received an interim update from them but for some reason the interface has a glitch where buttons become transparent - I'll need to get more files from the tech on Monday.

In the meantime I managed to get a specifically compiled MCU that should fix the issue some have had with hardware keys not responding. This version of MCU should only be applied to DNS-810 units, it is not compatible with the 610. Let me know if it fixes the issue - I think only two have it so far.

Alright Sandy, I ran the update. My hardware buttons are working again, but I lost sound from the rear speakers.
