    BOSCH RCD-510 Vs Delphi RCD-510

    Hi all,

Can any of you experts tell me the difference between the Bosch and Delphi RNS-510?

I have a 2006 Passat B6 TDI wagon if that helps.

    Hi Pawnii,
The RCD-510 is the middle of the range audio system (Radio CD).
The RNS-510 is the top of the range navigation/audio system (Radio Navigation System).
The look slightly similar from the outside but are very different animals.
There is a handy comparison table here:
    Differences between the Volkswagen RCD 210, RCD 310, RNS 310, RNS 315, RCD 510, RNS 510, RCD 550, RNS 810 and the RNS 850 | my-gti.com

    Thanks for the reply kamold.

I must have been delirious when i posted this. I actually wanted to know the difference between the two types of RCD510s.
I've seen the more common RCD510 made by Delphi around but i've also seen a RCD510 model made by Bosch.

There probably isn't any difference at all.

I don't know for sure however my guess would be that the designs would be exactly the same as long as the revision is the same.
VW is a huge company and sources its components for different markets from different suppliers.
If you are wondering which one to buy I wouldn't be concerned about the actual manufacturer.

That's what i was hoping kamold.
It seems the button configuration is different also. I wonder if that's due to left/right side drive.
If it's cheap enough I'd give it a go.

The difference between the 2 is essentially in the radio spec where the Delphi unit has no RDS or has the option to have DAB or DAB+. The Bosch unit is made in Portugal and is considered to have a superior screen from what I have read on several VW forums.

I have just purchased a second hand Bosch unit off ebay for $300 + postage which is about the average price i have seen from my research. The Delphi units which I understand are made exclusively for VW Chinese market appear to be cheaper ($225-$275) when purchased from suppliers on ebay ex china. All these units come with no original VW packaging as I suspect VW does not sanction the sale of these units as an accessory outside China. User's Manuals are only avaliable in pdf format as I suspect the hardcopy manuals are all in Chinese.

I will be installing my unit into my 2008 Tiguan this weekend that currently has the older RCD300 generation radio installed.

So will you be upgrading your can-bus in the Tiguan or is it the correct one already to avoid the battery drain issue?
Is your phone button on the left of the screen?

    thanks

Some RCD510's have a video input for a reversing camera. Any sign of the input ?

Pawnii no plan to upgrade the Can bus as I have been told all Tiguans came with the updated one that prevents power drain. Will monitor battery state over the coming days to be sure. Unit to be installed after the other half returns from doing the weekly shopping. Will report back if any issues.

Phone button on the left on the newer Bosch units previously it was on the right. In the latest users manual published in 2010 VW advise the button locations vary according to what your radio for that countries market comes with ie TIM (EU)DAB (EU) DAB+(AUS NZ?) SAT radio (subscription required & only works in USA & Canada).

Iamthestig it comes with 3 other additional multi pin sockets which i assume are for the MDI, Bluetooth & reversing camera. I am ordering a MDI interface for ipod/iphone unit from Germany off ebay which landed in Aus should be around $200. I will have it set up in the cubby hole not the centre console as per factory installation

My apologies phone button on the right on the newer units, it used to be on the left in pre 2010 units
