Rusty (internal) OEM Oil Filter (EA888)

I've read only one thread on this issue but here is the proof!!!

Bought from a dealer....first time I've ever seen this......seemed to be surface rust. So, if you do your own oil changes, check the box before you leave the parts office. I didn't!

    I'd still take it back.

First I've seen of it, but I will keep a look out.

Sadly, I had(!) to fit the rusty one. Was 10pm and had punctured the old one when removing it. No choice but to clean the rusty one, thoroughly, and fill the car up.

Very light surface rust. Strange hey! New one fitted and definitely, will get a refund.

It happens once in the blue moon. Always check the filter that you fit, the rust is not that unusual, also watch for the metal debris on the threaded parts.

Kudos to Gerald Slaven VW.....got a brand new (non rusty) filter, no questions asked. They will send the rusty and used one back to VW for a warranty claim.
