Gauge plate mod looks great. Has a good oem look. Nice car mate.
As the speakers are set up
Now for the gauge fun, this was just a piece of aluminium and with some clever folding, etching and wrinkle paint you end up with this!
Mocked up

Gauges pretty much fully installed
And at night..
Only complaint is that the 'Voltometre' reads around 1volt out, probably due to its grounding and getting its power from the fuse box.
I bought these gauges to
1. monitor the alternator (I still don't trust it)
2. keep an eye on engine oil pressure, as a drop in oil pressure usually warns you somthing bad is about to happen!
Thanks![]()

Looking good mate, excellent work. Looks like a stock guage panel.
Merry christmas too you and your MK2!!
Hey mate,
Gauge setup looks great. So is it the wrinkle paint that gives it the texture?
Certainly does, VHT Brand from Autobarn.
3 separate coats of the paint spraying horizontaly, vertically and diagonally.

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Awesome, how do you mount it ??
I'd put 3 gauges if I'm ever going to do it.

Atm, its simply pressed in there, the shape of the tray pretty much allows it to sit there securly by itself (has done for over a month now)
But there are plans to use black rivets or possibly screws... dunno yet.
I think I measured and found that there isn't enough space for 3 52mm gauge's to fit side by side. But I'd like to be proven wrong![]()

Winding my front passenger window up today, I heard servere crunching and cracking sounds, leaving me to assume the worst.
After I finished work, I came home, tore the trim off and found the cradle that the window sits in like this.....
Completly rotted out with rust, allowing it to buckle and catch on the door frame as I wound it up.
Managed to brace it with some angle aluminium and put it back togther. Works better than before!
Anyone know where you can buy these?
Thanks![]()
